There's a big push around the world to use "clean" energy, and there is considerable public support for it. Who could oppose electricity, for example, that powers devices without emitting greenhouse gases during their operation? From cars and trucks to lawn mowers and power tools, electric batteries are powering devices once fueled by gasoline.
Lithium is a key resource for batteries and it's obtained by mining. That's not so much of a problem until mining is proposed nearby.
