Plant Windflowers This Fall: Anemones for the Spring Garden
Posted by John Marshall on
There is something wonderfully fitting about the old name Windflower. Anemones carry their bright, open blossoms on slender stems, where they seem made to dance in the spring breeze.
Our fall collection of Anemone bulbs and corms has arrived at GoGardenNow, ready for autumn planting and a beautiful display in the coming season. Their cheerful, often poppy-like flowers appear in rich shades of red, pink, violet, blue, and white, sometimes dramatically marked with dark centers.
Anemones are splendid planted in drifts through flower beds and borders, tucked among perennials, or grown for cutting. Their relatively small size also makes them useful where taller spring bulbs might overwhelm the planting. For the greatest effect, plant them generously—the more Windflowers stirring together in the breeze, the better.
Plant Anemones in well-drained soil during the appropriate fall planting period for your climate. Once established, they bring a wonderfully informal character to the garden, equally at home in cottage gardens, mixed borders, and naturalistic plantings.
Explore our fall collection of Anemones at GoGardenNow and plant Windflowers for a lively display of spring color.
