Plants that once grew wild were brought back to be planted, and seeds sold for hundreds of millions of dong/kg

 

This article from a Vietnamese online publication caught our eye.

"This is a special moisture-loving herbaceous plant, with a lifespan of up to 100 years, rather slow growth and found at an altitude of 1,200-2,000m above sea level.

"This plant was discovered by scientists in 1973 and officially announced in 1985 with the name Vietnamese ginseng, a completely new type of ginseng in the scientific world."

Bounty offered on invasive Bradford pear trees in some states

 

As you've read here before, the Pyrus calleryana (Bradford pear and its iterations) was introduced by the USDA decades ago as a desirable ornamental tree. OOPS, they did it again. As it turns out, the USDA made another big mistake. Now some states are trying to eradicate it, even offering rewards for the public spirited persons who help.

Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens holiday lights exhibit has returned

 

In a recent announcement, "The Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens at the Historic Bamboo Farm (CGBG), operated by University of Georgia Cooperative Extension, will soon be spreading holiday cheer with their December Nights and Holiday Lights event in Savannah." Visitors can can enjoy almost 5 acres of the gardens illuminated for the holidays.
