Sarracenia ‘Yomamallama’ — Aerolata
Sarracenia ‘Yomamallama’ — Aerolata is a distinctive hybrid pitcher plant known for its tall, elegant traps and unusual character. The plant produces upright tubular pitchers that often develop striking shades of green flushed with crimson and burgundy, with subtle veining that becomes more pronounced in strong sunlight. The pitchers rise cleanly from the crown, giving the plant a refined vertical presence in the bog garden.
The traps are specialized leaves designed for catching insects. Nectar produced along the lip of the pitcher attracts insects to the opening, where the smooth interior surface causes them to slip downward into digestive fluid at the base of the tube. This remarkable adaptation allows the plant to thrive in the nutrient-poor, acidic soils typical of bog environments.
Throughout the growing season, Sarracenia ‘Yomamallama’ — Aerolata forms a handsome clump of upright pitchers that bring height, color, and fascination to carnivorous plant plantings. The tall traps create a dramatic effect among mosses and companion bog plants, making this cultivar an appealing specimen for collectors and bog garden enthusiasts. In early spring, nodding flowers appear on tall stems before the new pitchers emerge.
