Sarracenia ‘Oliver Twist’ is a distinctive hybrid pitcher plant admired for its elegant form and striking coloration. The upright tubular pitchers develop in shades of green flushed with crimson and often traced with intricate veining near the throat and hood. The gracefully flared opening and arching hood give the traps a refined, sculptural quality that makes the plant stand out in a well-planted bog garden.

Each pitcher is a specialized leaf designed to capture insects. Nectar along the rim attracts prey, and once inside the smooth interior of the tube, insects slide downward into the digestive fluid at the base. This remarkable adaptation allows the plant to flourish in nutrient-poor bog soils where most plants would struggle.

During the growing season, Sarracenia ‘Oliver Twist’ produces a handsome cluster of upright pitchers that add height and color to the planting. The vivid traps rise above mosses and companion bog plants, creating a dramatic and fascinating display. In early spring, nodding flowers appear on tall stems before the new pitchers begin to form.
