Sarracenia ‘Emily’ is a graceful and attractive hybrid pitcher plant prized for its elegant form and vivid coloration. The upright tubular pitchers often develop shades of green flushed with rose, crimson, or burgundy, frequently accented by bold veining and a well-shaped hood that arches over the opening of the trap. The overall effect is both striking and refined, making this cultivar a beautiful addition to any carnivorous plant collection.

Like other North American pitcher plants, the leaves are modified into insect-catching pitchers. Nectar and bright coloration lure insects to the rim where they slip into the tube and are digested in the fluid within. This fascinating adaptation allows the plant to flourish in the nutrient-poor soils typical of bog environments.

During the growing season, Sarracenia ‘Emily’ forms an attractive clump of upright pitchers that stand prominently above the mossy bog surface. Its pleasing color patterns and reliable growth make it well suited for outdoor bog gardens, container bog planters, and carnivorous plant displays. In early spring, elegant nodding flowers appear before the new pitchers emerge.
