Sarracenia - Elvis Wilkerson Small
Sarracenia ‘Elvis Wilkerson’ is a striking hybrid pitcher plant celebrated for its tall, elegant traps and bold coloration. The upright pitchers often develop vivid shades of green, rose, and crimson, frequently accented by strong veining and a broad, gracefully arched hood. The dramatic coloration and refined shape give the plant a commanding presence in the bog garden.
Like other North American pitcher plants, the tubular leaves function as specialized insect traps. Nectar and bright coloration attract insects to the rim of the pitcher, where they lose their footing and slide into the tube below. Digestive fluids within the pitcher break down the prey, providing nutrients that allow the plant to thrive in the nutrient-poor soils typical of bog habitats.
Throughout the growing season, Sarracenia ‘Elvis Wilkerson’ produces a handsome clump of tall, colorful pitchers that rise above the mossy surface of the bog. Its bold form and dependable growth make it a standout specimen in carnivorous plant collections, outdoor bog gardens, and container bog planters. In early spring, graceful nodding flowers appear before the new pitchers fully develop.
