Easter Cactus: Arching Stems and a Spring Flower Display

Rhipsalidopsis gaertneri, commonly called Easter Cactus, grows flattened stem segments that arch over a pot. This forest cactus prefers gentler light and more even moisture than desert cacti.

Care Tips

Light: Provide bright indirect light; shield from harsh midday and afternoon sun.

Water: Water when the surface of the mix begins to dry, keeping the root zone lightly moist rather than saturated. Reduce watering during slower growth, but do not leave it bone dry for prolonged periods.

Soil: Use an airy, well-draining mix suited to epiphytic cacti, in a pot with drainage holes.

Temperature: Keep in a frost-free indoor or sheltered environment, away from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.

Use a well-draining potting mix suited to the plant, as described in the Care Tips above. Choose a container with drainage holes and avoid leaving roots in waterlogged soil.

Allow the soil to dry to the level recommended in the Care Tips above before watering again. Always drain excess water.

Weather Conditions

• When ordering, be mindful that living succulents can freeze. If you live in an area that is below 40°F, please consider purchasing plant until the weather is more suitable.
