Why You’ll Love It

Bring the softness of fine fescue and the color of wildflowers together in one blend.

Earthwise Meadowscaping combines our EcoSeed fine fescues with a diverse wildflower mix for a landscape with natural texture and changing seasonal color. The grasses form an arching foundation while flowers grow above them, creating a relaxed meadow appearance.

Plant a flowering border, transform an unused section of lawn, or create a meadow-style area along a fence or garden edge. Leave room for flowers to grow and enjoy a landscape that changes as different species emerge and bloom.

Expected Height & Mowing

Fine fescues develop naturally arching foliage, with flowers rising above the grass. Expect varied heights across the planting, approximately 6–36 inches, depending on species, maturity, and growing conditions.

Allow flowers to grow without routine mowing during their blooming season. Occasional seasonal cutting and weed removal may be needed to maintain the planting.

Planting Overview

1. Prepare Your Space
Remove competing vegetation and debris, then lightly loosen and smooth the soil surface. Prepared bare soil provides the best opportunity for both grass and flowers to establish.

2. Spread & Press
Broadcast seed evenly using the application rate for your selected package. Gently press the seed into the soil surface for good contact, avoiding deep burial.

3. Water & Establish
Keep the seeded surface evenly moist during germination. As seedlings develop roots, gradually transition to deeper, less frequent watering. Supplemental water may still be needed during prolonged heat or dry weather.

If adding seed to an existing lawn, expose soil between the grass and allow the planting to grow without frequent mowing. Dense existing turf can limit flower establishment.

See our Wildflower & Meadowscaping Planting Instructions for more guidance.

Germination & Seasonal Color

Fine fescues may begin germinating within 7–14 days under suitable conditions. Some flowers may emerge within 1–4 weeks, while slower species can take longer.

Annual flowers may bloom during the first growing season. Perennial flowers often become more noticeable in later seasons. Flowering and species balance will change over time, and occasional reseeding can help maintain the display.
