Hakuro Nishiki Dappled Willow
Salix integra ‘Hakuro Nishiki’, commonly known as Dappled Willow, is a graceful ornamental shrub or small tree prized for its striking variegated foliage and soft, colorful new growth. In spring, the plant produces a flush of young leaves in shades of creamy white, soft pink, and light green, creating a delicate, watercolor-like effect that brightens the landscape. As the season progresses, the foliage matures into a handsome blend of green and white variegation.
The plant’s slender, arching branches give it a naturally elegant form, and when grown as a grafted standard it develops a rounded canopy that resembles a small ornamental tree. The colorful foliage provides months of visual interest and pairs beautifully with darker shrubs and evergreens in the garden.
Because of its rapid growth and ability to tolerate pruning, Dappled Willow is often shaped to maintain a dense, compact form. Regular trimming encourages fresh growth, which brings out the most vibrant pink and cream coloration.
Adaptable and easy to grow, Salix integra ‘Hakuro Nishiki’ thrives in sunny garden settings where its bright foliage can be fully appreciated. It adds softness, movement, and color to landscapes throughout the growing season.
