Ajuga reptans 'Chocolate Chip' forms a neat, low-growing carpet of purplish-brown foliage in short order. Light blue flowers in early spring are an added attraction. Since it tolerates occasional foot traffic, it can be used as a lawn substitute where grasses are slow to establish, or spotty in coverage. 'Chocolate Chip' is drought-tolerant, too, so you can water less frequently.

Chocolate Chip, like other ajugas, is a pollinator-friendly plant and attracts bees.
