Sempervivum ‘Jade Rose’ is a small, disciplined beauty—green as polished stone, tipped with rose, and shaped like it learned its manners from a monastery garden.
This hardy hen-and-chicks forms tight, symmetrical rosettes of jade-green leaves blushed with soft pink to rosy red, deepening in cool weather and bright sun. The effect is floral even when it isn’t blooming, each rosette holding its shape like a carved ornament set close to the earth. Offsets appear steadily, forming tidy colonies that spread without swagger.
Built for hardship, ‘Jade Rose’ thrives in lean, well-drained soil, shrugs off drought, and laughs at winter cold. It belongs in rock gardens, troughs, gravel beds, stone walls, and containers where water drains fast and fuss is unwelcome. Rich soil and excess water only dull its character—this plant prefers life a little hard around the edges.
Evergreen, cold-hardy, and long-lived, this sempervivum asks almost nothing and gives year-round structure in return. It is not flashy. It does not beg attention. It simply endures—quietly handsome in all seasons, like a rose carved from jade and left where time can’t quite touch it.
