Rhipsalis: Forest Shapes in Hanging Green

Rhipsalis hangs in long, wandering strands—forest lace spun by time itself. Born in the tropical canopies of Central and South America, these epiphytic cacti thrive where light is softened by leaves and the air stays warm and damp. Outdoors, they settle comfortably in USDA Zones 10–11, but most gardeners bring them indoors where their sculptural forms shine.

Give them bright, indirect light and a well-draining soil that never turns heavy or sour. Let the top layer dry before watering again, and keep feedings modest during the growing months. Snip straggling stems as needed, and they’ll continue to pour over their pots in quiet, effortless cascades—living reminders of the deep, shaded jungles they once called home.
