Algerian Ivy Variegated 'Gloire de Marengo' is quite lovely with the its large, evergreen, variegated leaves. It brightens the landscape when grown in shaded areas. It's not limited to use as a ground cover, though. Plant 'Gloire de Marengo' in containers and on trellises, indoors or out. Where deer are a problem in the southern garden, Algerian Ivy might be part of the solution.

Algerian ivy, also known as Canary Island Ivy, North African Ivy and Madeira Ivy, thrives in USDA zones 7-10, performing well in partial shade to full shade. It tolerates a wide range of soil types with pH ranging from 6.1 to 8.5. Let soil dry out between watering.
Algerian Ivy is excellent for controlling erosion on slopes fine for borders, trellises, just about anything else you want to cover.
